When installing a new version of the supplied software, does the old version need to be uninstalled?

When installing a new software version, the previous version is automatically overwritten by the new version.

In any of the following cases, the previous version does not need to be uninstalled.

When installing a new software version supplied with your second or subsequent Canon cameras
When updating the software to the latest version by using an updater
