The 70-200m f/2.8 lens supports a wide range of usages from the EF lens era, including sports photography, portraits, landscapes, and news coverage. The RF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z is a hybrid-style zoom lens that seamlessly links photography and movie shooting operations.

Spherical aberration and image distortion are effectively suppressed by the optimal arrangement of the UD aspherical, Glass Moulded (GMo) aspherical, and replica aspherical lenses. These aspherical lens elements, coupled with two Super UD lens elements, deliver high image quality equivalent to that of the RF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM.

For smoother operation, the lens maintains a fixed total length while zooming, so there is no change to the balance or the center of gravity. An iris ring is provided for manual control of the aperture while recording videos.

This lens is also compatible with the EXTENDER RF 1.4x and EXTENDER RF 2x, for high-resolution super-telephoto shooting.

The minimum focus distance of the lens at a zoom setting of 200mm is 0.68m.

The lens is available in two colors: black to match the RF24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z, and white to match Canon’s telephoto lens series. This zoom lens is an alternative to the popular “70-200mm f/2.8” lens, which is now part of the RF lens lineup.
