IMPORTANT
Operational requirements and restrictions are indicated at the end of the following procedure. Be sure to read these items carefully in order to operate the printer correctly, and to avoid damage to the printer.
Load envelopes in the paper cassette using the following procedure.
- When loading envelopes at sizes of DL, COM10, C5, or Monarch in the paper cassette, load them in portrait orientation so that the printing side is facing up and the flap is toward the right of the printer when viewed from the front.
(
: Feeding direction)
- When printing envelopes of the Envelope B5 size, close the flaps and load them so that the printing side is facing up and the envelopes are printed from the top (the edge with the flap).
(
: Feeding direction)
1. Pull out the paper cassette.
2. Place the stack of envelopes on a flat surface, flatten them to release any remaining air, and be sure that the edges are pressed tightly.
3. Loosen any stiff corners of the envelopes and flatten curls as shown in the figure.
4. Align the edges of the envelopes on a flat surface.
5. Load the envelopes so that the edge of the media is aligned with the front side of the paper cassette.
6. While holding the lock release lever of the side paper guides, slide the guides to the mark for the size of the loaded envelopes.
The side paper guides move together.
7. While holding the lock release lever of the rear paper guide, slide the guide to the size mark for the loaded envelopes.
8. Hold down the envelopes as shown in the figure, make sure that the stack does not exceed the load limit marks (A), and then set it under the hooks (B) on the paper guides.
Make sure that there is sufficient space between the hooks of the paper guides and the stack of the envelopes. If there is no sufficient space, slightly reduce the amount of the envelopes.
9. Set the paper cassette in the printer.
Push the paper cassette into the printer firmly until the front side of the cassette is flush with the front surface of the printer.
10. Register the size of the loaded paper using the following procedure.
This printer's paper cassette cannot automatically detect the paper size. Therefore, you need to register the size of the loaded paper.
11. Display the Printer Status Window.
For details on methods for displaying the Printer Status Window, see "Displaying the Printer Status Window" in Related Information at the end of this page.
12. From the [Options] menu, select [Device Settings] -> [Register Paper Size in Cassettes].
13. Select the size of the paper loaded in the paper cassette, then click [OK].
If you want to print after loading envelopes in the paper source, you need to configure the printer driver. For details on the procedure for configuring the printer driver, see "How to configure the printer driver and print" in Related Information at the end of this page.
IMPORTANT
a. When any paper is in the manual feed slot, you cannot feed paper from the paper cassette. If you are printing from the paper cassette, remove any paper loaded in the manual feed slot.
b. Do not pull out the paper cassette while the printer is printing. This may result in paper jams or damage to the printer.
c. Refill the paper cassette after all the loaded paper runs out. If the cassette is refilled when paper still remains in the cassette, it may result in misfeeds.
d. Do not load paper in the manual feed slot during printing from the paper cassette. This may result in multiple sheets of paper fed at once or paper jams.
e. Do not touch the black rubber pad (A) in the paper cassette. This may result in misfeeds.
f. If you are printing from Cassette 2, make sure that Cassette 1 is set before printing. If you print from Cassette 2 when Cassette 1 is not set, this will cause paper jams.
g. For more details on the usable paper, see "Usable paper" in Related Information at the end of this page.
h. Up to approximately 10 envelopes can be loaded in the paper cassette.
i. You cannot print on the reverse side (glued side) of envelopes.
j. Be sure to align the paper guides with the width of the envelopes. If the paper guides are too loose or too tight, this may result in misfeeds or paper jams.
NOTE
Load envelopes in Cassette 2 (Only when the optional paper feeder is installed) in the same manner as you load envelopes in Cassette 1.
