Choosing the Subject to Focus On (Tracking AF)

You can choose the subject you want to focus on and shoot.

IMPORTANT

[Servo AF] is set to [On].
Tracking may not be possible when subjects are too small or move too　rapidly, or when subject color or brightness matches that of the background

too closely.

[AF-Point Zoom] on the [Shooting] () tab is not available.
[Macro] ()is not available.
The following explanations are provided based on the assumption that the [Shooting Mode] is set to [Program AE] ().

1. Turn on the camera.

2. Press the <

> button.

3. The following screen appears.

Operate the <directional button> to select the [Shooting] (

) tab.

Operate the <directional button> to set [AF Frame] to [Tracking AF].

After making these settings, press the <

> button.

4. The following window appears.

Point the camera so that the (

) is on the subject, and then press the left <directional button> (When using the PowerShot SX50 HS or PowerShot G15, press the [AF Frame Selector] (

)).

- The camera will beep and (

) will appear when a subject is detected. The camera will continue to track the subject within a certain range even if the subject moves.

- If the camera does not detect the subject, (

) will appear on the screen.

REFERENCE

To cancel tracking, press the left <directional button> again( When using the PowerShot SX50 HS or PowerShot G15, press the [AF Frame Selector] ()).
The camera will detect a subject even if you press the <shutter button> halfway without pressing the left <directional button>( When using the PowerShot SX50 HS or PowerShot G15, without pressing the [AF Frame Selector] ()). After shooting, () will appear in the center of the screen.
