If the AF method is set to [ + Tracking], [FlexiZone - Multi], or [FlexiZone - Single] for Live View shooting or movie shooting, the AF control method (phase-difference detection with the image sensor or contrast detection) will switch automatically depending on the lens used and functions selected, such as magnified view. This can greatly affect the AF speed and the camera may take a longer time to focus (phase-difference detection generally allows faster AF focusing).
For details, refer to the information below.

During magnified view for Live View or movie shooting, or with Full HD 59.94fps / 50.00fps
When using the magnified view for Live View or movie shooting, or Full HD 59.94fps / 50.00fps is set, contrast-detection AF will be applied. In such cases, the camera may take a longer time to focus.

Using lenses that do not support the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system or extenders
When using lenses that do not support the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system or extenders, phase-difference detection with the image sensor will be used to determine the lens’ drive direction, and then contrast-detection AF will be used to focus. In such cases, the camera may take a longer time to focus.
Additionally, if lenses that do not support the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system or extenders are used when the camera is set to Continuous AF or Movie Servo AF mode, phase-difference detection with the image sensor will be used for AF control.
The following lenses do not support the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system (production has ended for all lenses listed):
Note that the lenses marked with "*" have difficulties in autofocus with Contrast AF, and it may take a longer time to achieve focus or the camera may not be able to achieve correct focus.
