The built-in flash automatically fires even without being previously set

      In shooting modes ( [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ] ) the default setting is [ ] (Auto flash) and the camera automatically judges the shooting environment to determine whether the built-in flash fires or not. Therefore, the built-in flash may automatically fire in low-light environments even if you do not want to use it.

      To prevent the built-in flash from firing automatically, change the shooting mode, or press the [ ] button to change the flash mode to [Flash off].
      For more information on the flash settings that can be made in each shooting mode, please refer to the table below.
      IMPORTANT
      • The flash cannot be set to [Flash off] in [ ] mode.
      • The position and shape of the operation buttons may differ depending on the model you use.

      1. Set the camera’s power switch to [ON].

      2. Set the camera to [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ], or [ ] mode.

      3. Press the [ ] button to display the Quick Control screen. (The setting screen for [ ] is shown in the example images below.)
       

      4. Press the [ ], [ ] keys to select [ ] (Auto flash), or [ ](Flash on).



      5. Turn the [ ] dial to select [ ] (Flash off).



      The possible flash settings for individual shooting modes are shown in the table below.

      * If you change the shooting mode or set the power switch to [OFF], all the functions will revert to the default settings (except the self-timer).

      REFERENCE
      In the [ ] and [ ] modes, when you press the shutter button halfway under low-light conditions, the built-in flash may be raised automatically and emit the AF-assist beam.
