    In the following explanation, Android™ smartphone setting procedures are indicated by the icon, and camera setting procedures are indicated by the icon.

    Getting Started
    The procedure for using the Wi-Fi function to send images from a camera to an Android™ smartphone is explained in the following 4 steps. To use Wi-Fi, an access point base unit (wireless LAN router, etc.) connected to a computer is required. Additionally, the Camera Connect application must be installed on the Android™ smartphone.
    Please proceed in order from step 1.

    Step 1: Confirming the Android™ OS version
    Step 2: Connecting the Android™ smartphone to an access point and installing Camera Connect
    Step 3: Connecting the camera to the Android™ smartphone in infrastructure mode
    Step 4: Sending images to the Android™ smartphone


    NOTE
    A router is a device that creates a network (LAN) structure for connecting multiple computers. A router that contains an internal wireless function is called a wireless (LAN) router.
    • This explanation will refer to all wireless routers and base stations as "access points".
    REFERENCE
    ・This camera can only be connected using an access point. Ad-hoc connections are not possible.
    ・1 to 1 connections may be possible when connecting to smartphones equipped with tethering functions.
    *Separate contracts and additional settings may be necessary when using tethering functions depending on the smartphone model.
    *Extremely high service charges may be incurred depending on the details of your smartphone contract. As tethering-related charges vary, we strongly recommend that your review you contract carefully before attempting to use tethering functions.

    Step 1: Confirming the Android™ OS version



    1. Check the smartphone’s specifications.
    • To confirm the Android™ OS version information, check the [Settings] menu ( ) [About device] [Android version].


    NOTE
    • Turning off the sleep function of the Android™ smartphone is recommended.
    • The setting procedures and items may differ depending on the Android™ OS version installed on your Android™ smartphone.

    • Please refer to the table below for more information on supported OS versions. (as of March 2016)

    Step 2: Connecting the Android™ smartphone to an access point and installing Camera Connect


    Please connect the Android™ smartphone to the access point. If the Android™ smartphone is already connected to the access point, please proceed to Step 8: Installing Camera Connect The basic connection method is explained in the following section. For more information on the access point’s name, security key, or for more details on making connections, please refer to the Instruction Manual for your access point or Android™ smartphone.

    NOTE
    • The example procedure is shown on an Android™ smartphone installed with Android™ OS 4.0.
    • The example screen images from the Android™ smartphone are used to explain the setting procedures and may differ from the screens shown on other models. For more information on the model you are using, refer to the Instruction manual included with your Android™ smartphone.

    1. Turn on the Android™ smartphone.
    2. Confirm that the Android™ smartphone is not set to [Airplane mode].
    3. Touch the menu key, and then touch [Settings].
    4. Set the [Wi-Fi] switch to [ON], and then touch [Wi-Fi].



    5. Choose the access point you wish to connect to from the list displayed on the Android™ smartphone.



    6. Enter the security key in the password field, and then touch [connect].



    7. After confirming that the Android™ smartphone and the access point are connected, touch the [Home Button] to return to the [Home Screen].


    Download and install Camera Connect from Google Play™.
    If Camera Connect is already installed on the Android™ device, please proceed to Step 3: Connecting the camera to the Android™ smartphone in infrastructure mode.


    8. Touch the [Play Store] application on your Android™ smartphone to access Google Play™.


    IMPORTANT
    ・The Camera Connect application is free, but separate connection charges for accessing Google Play™ may be applicable.
    ・A Google account is necessary to download Camera Connect.
    ・It is not possible to download Camera Connect to smartphones not equipped with GooglePlay™.
    ・Downloading the application via a cellular network may take longer than downloading via Wi-Fi.

    9. Touch the search icon.



    10. Enter [Camera Connect] in the search field, and then touch the search icon.



    11. Choose [Camera Connect] from the displayed search results, and install it on the smartphone.

    Step 3: Connecting the camera to the Android™ smartphone in infrastructure mode



    Please connect the Android™ to the camera in infrastructure mode using an access point.

    1. Press the <Playback> () button to turn the camera on.




    2. Touch [ ].


    NOTE
    When setting up Wi-Fi for the first time, the camera nickname registration screen will be displayed.
    This nickname will be displayed on the screen of target devices when connecting to other devices via Wi-Fi.
    Touch within the frame and then enter a nickname (up to 16 letters and numbers) with the displayed keyboard.

    3. Touch [ ].



    4. When connecting the camera to the Android™ smartphone for the first time, touch [Add a Device], and select [Infrastructure].
    Choose the access point you wish to connect to from the list.




    NOTE
    Once an Android™ smartphone is added, the smartphone name will be displayed on the screen in step 4. To connect to the Android™ smartphone again, simply choose the smartphone name from the list.

    5. When a connection has been established between the camera and the access point, a screen like the one shown below will be displayed.



    6. Touch the [Canon CC] ( ) application icon on the Android™ smartphone to start [Camera Connect].



    7. Touch the nickname of the Android™ smartphone you wish to connect to.



    8. A screen like the one shown below will be displayed.
    Touch [Yes] to send images from the camera to the Android™ smartphone.



    9. A screen like the one shown below will be displayed.



    10. Once you have connected to the Android™ smartphone, a screen like the one below will appear.


    NOTE
    • The image quality level for movies that can be sent may differ depending on the Android™ smartphone. Refer to the instruction manual provided with your Android™ smartphone for details.
    • To add multiple smartphones, repeat the above procedures starting from step 4.
    • To change privacy settings for smartphones added to the list, choose the smartphone whose settings you want to change from [Edit a Device] in step 4, and then choose [View Settings].

    Step 4: Sending images to the Android™ smartphone



    1. Touch [Select and Send].



    2. A screen like the one shown below appears.



    • Touch the images you wish to send. () will be displayed on selected images.
    • Touching the image again will deselect in, and () will disappear.
    • Repeat the procedure above to select additional images.
    After you finish choosing images, touch [OK].

    3. A screen like the one shown below appears.



    To resize the image to a smaller resolution, touch () or () to choose an option and complete the setting.
    • Touch [Send] to send the images to the Android™ smartphone.
    • [Image sent] will be displayed, and the display will return to the screen displayed in step 1.

    4. To disconnect from the camera, touch () in the upper right of the screen, and then touch [OK] in the disconnection confirmation screen.






    The camera cannot be connected via Wi-Fi using Camera Connect
    The information registered to the smartphone for CameraWindow cannot be used for Camera Connect. Therefore, it will be necessary to re-register connection information for Camera Connect.
    The procedures for making connections with Camera Connect are explained below.

    1. Press the <Playback> () button to display the playback screen.



    2. Touch [ ].



    3. Touch [ ].



    4. Touch [Edit a Device].



    5. Touch the name of the smartphone you installed the CameraWindow app on.



    6. Touch [Erase All Connection Info].



    7. Touch [OK].



    8. When the [Select a Device] screen is displayed, perform the procedures explained from step 4 in Step 3: Connecting the camera to the Android™ smartphone in infrastructure mode to complete the settings.



    NOTE
    When you have registered multiple smartphones to the camera, the display reverts to the screen in step 5 if connection settings are erased. In this case, touch the button to display the [Select a Device] screen, touch [Add a Device].
