EOS R Full-frame Mirrorless System

Expand Your
Creative Possibilities

Redefine your creative vision when you
explore incredible possibilities with
the revolutionary RF mount on Canon’s
EOS R full-frame mirrorless system.

The Core of the EOS R System

the core

At the heart of the EOS R system is a 54 mm diameter lens mount that can transmit a massive volume of data between the camera and lens. The outcome – high-performance capture, unprecedented image resolution, and intuitive controls.

One System, Many Possibilities

Why Get a Full-Frame Mirrorless?

Shallow Depth of Field

A camera with a full-frame sensor when paired with a large aperture lens, gives you a more blurred background, which is ideal for shooting portraits.

High-Quality Images

Bigger sensors capture more light, so you get rich colour, details and high-quality images.

Superior Low Light Performance

With larger pixels, you can achieve higher quality images with lower image noise, even in low light conditions.

Unrestricted Field-of-View

Compared to APS-C sensors that have an approx. 1.6x crop factor, full-frame sensors have an uncropped field-of-view that provide realistic image composition.

Lenses & Accessories

Compatible with
over 80 lenses*

*inclusive of RF and EF lenses.
EF lenses are compatible
via mount adapter

Exponentially expand the list of compatible lenses when you attach the Mount Adapter EF-EOS R to EOS R cameras. Tell your stories using a wide range of Canon lenses.

RF lenses are part of Canon’s L (Luxury) lenses series. Native lenses to the EOS R system, RF lenses are built on the strengths of the EF system.

The RF mount has a larger diameter, which allows lens elements to be placed closer to the sensor. This reduces light refraction and aberrations resulting in higher image quality.

Canon offers mount adapters that allows EOS R users to continue using their existing EF & EF-S lenses while expanding the range of photographic expression.

Inventing the Future of Photography Since 1987

Every EF lens created is the result of uncompromised dedication and commitment to innovation. Our range of EF lenses spearheaded the photography industry with world-first technologies such as Ultrasonic Motor (USM), Image Stabilizer (IS) and Diffractive Optics (DO).

Canon Full-Frame Mirrorless Technologies

Dual Pixel CMOS AF is a phase-detection autofocusing technology proprietary to Canon. This technology is the driving force behind many of Canon’s revolutionary AF capabilities to help you achieve sharp images. The AF capabilities include:

  • Animal, eye, face and body detection
  • High AF speed up to 0.05s
  • Wide AF area up to 100% x 100%
  • Excellent low light performance up to EV-6.5

The above specifications vary by model.

Burst shooting of up to 20 fps with AF/AE tracking allows you to capture moments that are quicker than a blink of an eye.

Canon’s In-Body Image Stabilizer (In-Body IS) system is powerful on its own, but you can achieve better overall image stabilization up to 8-stops effectiveness when you pair EOS R5 and EOS R6 with a lens with Optical Image Stabilizer (Optical IS).

Video Shooting Capabilities

Life's Moments in 8K

Recorded on the EOS R5

It's time to invest in the future of videography with the EOS R5. The EOS R5 allows you to shoot in 8K without crop, giving you the freedom to pan and zoom into your frames while preserving the sharp and clear quality of your footage.

You can also expect pristine video quality with 4K oversampling, resulting in smoother edges, lesser noise and better colour rendering.

For video professionals, you can consider Canon’s professional lineup of Cinema EOS cameras, camcorders and lenses
