Solution
Raise the [ISO speed] to use a fast shutter speed when you wish to reduce the effects of camera shake or avoid blurry subjects, or to turn the flash off when shooting in a dark area.
Also, with [ISO AUTO] (
) selected, you can set the maximum ISO speed, or select the rate of change.
CAUTION
- The following explanations are provided based on the assumption that the [Shooting Mode] is set to [Program] ().
- To set the [ISO Speed], it is necessary to set the [Shooting Mode] to one of the following modes.
- [Custom 1, 2] (
,
), [Manual] (
), [Aperture Priority] (
), [Shutter Speed Priority] (
), [Program] (
), [Low Light] (
), [Quick Shot] (
)
1. Press the <Power> button on the camera.
2. Turn the <ISO dial> to choose an [ISO speed] setting.
When you choose an [ISO speed] that is available for setting, the [ISO lamp] lights orange.
When you choose an [ISO speed] that is not available for setting, the [ISO lamp] will turn off, and the camera will automatically be set to (
)*.
* When the [Shooting Mode] is in [Manual] (
), the ISO speed is automatically set to [ISO 80] (
).
3. The following screen appears on the LCD monitor.
Turn the < ISO Speed Dial > to set the [ISO Speed]* you want to set.
The [ISO Speed] you selected is displayed on the screen.
* Select the appropriate [ISO Speed] for the shooting environment. If the camera shake warning icon (
) appears when you press the < Shutter Button > halfway, it is recommended to gradually raise the ISO speed in increments such as [ISO 80], [ISO 100], etc., and then set the [ISO Speed] when the camera shake warning icon (
) disappears.
Guidelines for changing the ISO speed |
Automatically adjusts the ISO speed to the Shooting mode and shooting conditions.
Fine weather conditions, outdoor shooting
Cloudy, twilight
Nightscapes, dark interiors
4. If the following icon is shown, the setting is complete (if setting [ISO Speed] to 400).
CAUTION
- Raising the [ISO Speed] increases the shutter speed and allows the flash to reach subjects at far distances. Therefore, it is possible to shoot images with less subject blur or camera shake even in dark places.
- However, the higher the [ISO Speed], the more the noise stands out (more uneven areas in an image).
- Lowering the ISO speed results in sharper images, but there may be an increased chance of subject or image blurring in certain shooting conditions.
NOTE
- If [ISO3200] () still is not enough to suppress camera shake, the [Low Light] () mode allows ISO speed settings of [ISO4000] (), [ISO5000] (), [ISO6400] (), [ISO8000] (), [ISO10000] () and [ISO12800] ().
- To select [Low Light] (), set the [Mode Dial] to the [Low Light] () mode.
- In [Low Light] () mode, press the <FUNC./SET> () button, then press the <directional buttons> up or down to choose [AUTO] (). Press the <directional buttons> left or right to set the [ISO speed].
- The recording pixel setting in [Low Light] () mode will be displayed as () , and the image will be fixed at 1824 x 1368 pixels.
