Solution
If you are shooting subjects that are difficult to autofocus, or if you want to achieve precise focus on the magnified Live View image, you can use the MF (manual focus) mode to focus manually.
Manual Focus during Viewfinder Shooting
1. Set the camera's power switch to <ON>.
2. Set the lens’s focus mode switch to <MF>.
< M FOCUS > will be displayed on the LCD panel.
3. Focus by turning the lens’s focusing ring (
) until the subject looks sharp in the viewfinder.
4. Shoot
NOTE
- If you press the shutter button halfway while focusing manually, the focus indicator <>will light up when focus is achieved.
- With 65-point automatic selection AF, when the center AF point achieves focus, the focus indicator <> will light up.
Manual Focus during Viewfinder Shooting
1. Set the Live View shooting/ Movie shooting switch to <
>.
2. Press the <
> button. The Live View image will appear on the LCD monitor.
3. Set the lens’s focus mode switch to <MF>.
4. Turn the lens’s focusing ring (
) to focus roughly.
5. Press the <
> button to display the (
) magnifying frame.
6. Use <
> to move the magnifying frame to the position where you want to focus.
Pressing <
> will return the magnifying frame to the screen’s center.
7. Magnify the image.
- Each time you press the <> button, the magnification within the frame will change as follows:
Normal view 9 1x 9 5x 9 10x
- While in magnified view, you can use <> to scroll around the magnified image.
: AE lock,
: Magnified area position,
: Magnification (Approx.)
8. While looking at the magnified image, turn the lens’s focusing ring to focus
After achieving focus, press the <
> button to return to the normal view.
NOTE
During magnified view, camera shake may make it harder to achieve focus. Using a tripod is recommended.
IMPORTANT
- In magnified view, the shutter speed and aperture will be displayed in red. If you take the picture in magnified view, the exposure may not come out as desired. Return to the normal view before taking the picture.
- Even if you take the picture in magnified view, the image will be captured in the normal view range.
9. Check the exposure and press the shutter button completely to take the picture
