Although FTP file transfer and Browser Remote can be used to save image files from an SD card to a computer, you can also connect the camcorder to a computer using a USB cable, or use a commercially available memory card reader as well.
Procedures for connecting the camcorder to a computer using a USB cable and using a commercially available memory card reader are explained in the following sections.

Connecting the camcorder to a computer via a USB cable
1. Insert an SD memory card to the camcorder’s SD card slot, and then connect the camcorder to a computer.
2. After the SD memory card is automatically recognized by the computer, open the [DCIM] folder of the SD memory card.
3. Copy the photos in the folder to the computer.
The photos are saved in the [xxx-mmdd] folder in the [DCIM] folder.
* xxx: 3-digit folder number, mmdd: month and day
IMPORTANT
- Observe the following precautions while the SD card access indicator is flashing. Failure to do so may result in permanent data loss.
-Do not disconnect the power source or turn off the camcorder.
-Do not remove the SD card.
- Turn off the camcorder before inserting or removing an SD card. Inserting or removing the SD card with the camcorder on may result in permanent data loss.
- SD cards have front and back sides that are not interchangeable. Inserting an SD card facing the wrong direction can cause a malfunction of the camcorder.
Using a memory card reader
1. Insert an SD memory card to a commercially available memory card reader, and connect the card reader to a computer.
2. After the SD memory card is read by a computer, open the [DCIM] folder of the SD memory card.
3. Copy the photos in the folder to the computer.
The photos are saved in the [xxx-mmdd] folder in the [DCIM] folder.

NOTE
When the photos recorded to an SD card on June 1 are displayed on a computer, the file name of the photo with the number [100-0007] is displayed as [IMG_0007.JPG] in the [DCIM 100\0601] folder.
