Can you capture still images while recording a movie?

Solution

You can record photos even while the camcorder is set to

mode. Moreover, you can capture the photo at the same time you are recording video. Photos recorded with simultaneous recording will have the same aspect ratio of movies (16:9).

In

mode, the size/quality of photos taken while recording video (simultaneous recording) will be determined by the setting selected with this procedure; the size/quality of photos taken in record pause mode will be determined by the photo size set in

mode.

1. Set the mode switch to < M >.

2. Turn on the camcorder.

Please be sure the camcorder is in movie mode.

If the camcorder is in photo shooting mode, touch [ ] in the lower-right corner of the screen.

3.In record pause mode, Touch [

].

4.Select the photo size.

Drag your finger up and down bring [Simultaneous Recording] into the orange selection bar,

and touch inside the frame on the right.

4-3. The following screen appears on the LCD screen.

Touch desired photo quality.

Touch desired photo size.

5. Touch [

].

6.While recording, or in record pause mode, press <PHOTO> to capture the photo.

By following the procedures above, you can take photos while recording movies.

CAUTION

When recording photos on an Eye-Fi card in memory card slot , photos will be uploaded automatically if you are within the range of a configured network. Always verify that Eye-Fi cards have been approved in the country/region of use. See also Using an Eye-Fi card.

NOTE

Photo quality will be higher when photos are recorded in mode or in mode during record pause.
Photos will be recorded on the memory selected for recording photos.
Photos cannot be recorded simultaneously while the digital zoom or a digital effect is activated.
Photos cannot be recorded simultaneously at [LW 3264x1840] size while the digital tele-converter is activated.
If while recording video, photos are recorded simultaneously at [LW 3264x1840] size, you may notice a very brief stop during the playback of the video at the point where <PHOTO> was pressed.
